About Hearing

Do one or more of the following statements apply to you?
  1. You watch TV with the volume so loud that others ask you to lower it?
  2. You find yourself frequently asking people to repeat themselves?
  3. You have trouble understanding others in crowded rooms.
  4. You find yourself answering questions incorrectly because you didn’t fully understand.
If you find that one or more of the above apply to you, then you may have a hearing problem. We suggest that you take the free hearing screening test. You may experience more meaningful results if you have someone with known good hearing calibrate the sound volume for you. The volume of the first tone should be adjusted on your computer at the lowest level that it can be heard at. The use of earphones when taking the screening test will assist in getting more meaningful results. If you do not have earphones you may still take the test, however the results can be affected by the quality of your speakers and the presence of ambient noise in the area where you are taking the screening.

It’s estimated that over 35 million people in the United States have some degree of hearing loss and that number is growing daily. Hearing losses can go undetected for years until the ordinary everyday sounds of life become faded or even unrecognizable. Many victims of hearing loss then find themselves slowly withdrawing from the everyday life they have lived. They sometimes start avoiding placing themselves in surroundings where clarity of hearing suffers most.
